too long

It has been entirely too long since there has been a post and since I miss you all more than I can say, I will tell you what has been going on in my life. Work has been wonderful so far. I'm working with some really great people that I like a lot. I have had one "oh shit I can't do this" moment but I think we all have those so I cried and then got over it. I'm still living with puff and cathy (puff misses you lindsay) and looking to hopefully buy a house in the next couple months! I reallllyyy want this cute little house that my sister's friend is selling but we'll see cause i have no money right now:

i'm jealous of everyone who was in Clemson this past weekend and I figured out my schedule so I will be in Clemson for PC, Miami and Maryland at least! I hope to see EVERY SINGLE ONE of you!!

I've been reminded of all of you soooooooo much today. I was in our core curriculum classes (we have to take the whole time we are in orientation) and we talked about scoliosis, guillain barre, trachs, and my educator went to the GREAT WOLF LODGE this weekend. She broke her wrist and she STILL says how much fun it was!!!!!!!!! we HAVE to go!!!!!

please tell me all about your lives soon. I can't wait to hear all about it!

My Life with Bretta Nichole

Well hello to my sexy Statins! I miss you ladies sooo much and I can't believe it has been 3 months since we graduated!!!! As you are all aware, I got a job in Columbia on the oncology unit at Palmetto Health Baptist. For those of you that are not in Columbia and actually read this blog (aka Linds and Tori) this hospital is the downtown location while Les, Em and Bretta are on a different campus. I had my first day on the floor yesterday and got punched by a demented hospice patient so that was interesting, but I also got to see intrathecal chemotherapy be placed by a lumbar puncture, so highs and lows! haha! I hope I will like it, there is a 10 bed hospice unit attached to the 30 bed oncology unit, so we will see how the death and dying part works for me.

I am also moving in with Bretta on the 17th to our new 2 bedroom apartment, which will be a great improvement to the air mattress I have been living on for 2 weeks now in the tiny living room in her current 1 bedroom! My attempts to figure out her gmail situation and get her on board this blog have been slow coming, but alas I am trying.

I miss you ladies so much! Call me please!!!!!!

I think I speak for everyone when I say we love you and we're so happy for you! Can't wait til the day Eric pops the question to the rest of us!

Also, even more congratulations on passing N-CLEX! For those of you who are keeping score, that means that all eight Statins are officially RNs and first-time passers. I'm very proud of all of you and every single one of you are going to be great nurses and make a big difference to a lot of people!

I think I speak for everybody (except for the FOUR of you lucky ducks that ended up in the same city) when I say that we miss you so much and wish we could be there for your birthday! Soon when all of our schedules are figured out, we will find a time for some visits and make-up birthday drinks and .... other things ;)

also, I would like to point out that at this time last year, Danielle and I were kicking butt at cornhole at wingin' it. in case you guys forgot how good we were at it.

Dear all,

I thought I saw an awful girl who shall remain nameless (her name rhymes with Bevelyn Drank) in Berkeley today. I had a small MI but luckily I had aspirin, morphine, an ECG machine with leads, a nasal cannula connected to 02 at 2 L/min and a defibrillator; therefore, I am alive. Also, it was a false alarm. Just a black guy with short dreads. Yes, that would normally be my ideal guy, but since he reminded me of said devil, he repulsed me.

Just thought everyone should know.

I miss you all so much. i've even started dreaming about the 8 of us! I had a dream last night that we all kidnapped some girl! I have no idea why. We were in new york city and took her to my apartment (cause apparently i lived there). then, to interrogate her (again, no idea) we took her to starbucks. one of the weirdest dreams ever but it was wonderful because all of you were there! miss you!

i'm going to follow in everybody else's footsteps and give an update! I know that you are uber curious about the VERY exciting things happening in my life. I'm taking NCLEX on June 29th- three weeks from yesterday! I've decided to move home on the 18th of June so please pray that my parents and I don't kill each other. It should be interesting. I start work on July 23rd if I pass. I know its a long time difference but I go to the beach on the 11th-19th and duh, I didn't want to miss the beach! I've also made a decision where we should go for our first annual statin get-together! Four words: HARRY POTTER THEME PARK!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha I'll probably be in Clemson until the 18th so CALL ME if you are here. I get bored. a lot.

hello ladies. as you all know, I am back from Africa and (sadly) not married to an African prince. Although I did meet one and he said I would be worth ten cows!

anyways, just letting everybody know that ashley decristofaro and I got an apartment in dt greenville within walking distance of all of the bars and to Publix (tori, I thought you would like that). so everyone has to come visit and we can get shitty and not have to worry about driving anywhere!

Black Hole of Depression

The title of this blog sounds reallly sad, and thats because I really am. I am getting really frustrated along the job front. I have applied to probably 3o something positions in this stupid state, not including GA and TN and NOTHING. On top of that I have no NCLEX number still and I am just getting really sick and tired of having an open empty future. I need my Statins to come to Clemson and cheer me up. Seriously, guys, this is my cry for help! Lets drink wine, watch stupid television shows and gossip about meaningless crap..Don't mean to be Debbie Downer but I am green with jealousy over the 6 of ya'll that have jobs and the stupid smartypants that already passed NCLEX (even though I love you all)

June Update

I am really missing you all today, and I wish we could have just a couple hours to spend all together.  I figured the closest I can get is to make a new blog post about what's going on with me, and hope the rest of you will do the same!

I'm spending a couple weeks at home in Lexington, which can only be described as extremely dull. I initially came home because I had two interviews last week, one with Fresenius dialysis company and one with Palmetto Richland. The first one at Fresenius was okay, but I felt like my answers to the guy's questions were not particularly impressive and even though it seemed like a good job, I just didn't leave feeling very excited about it. The next day I had an interview with Richland and went in with the mentality that I had little to no chance of getting the job (on the phone, she was very clear about the fact that there were 400 new grad applicants). In retrospect, it's probably the best way I could have felt about it, because I really wasn't nervous at all. Long story short, it went really well, I loved the unit, I loved the manager, and she called me on Friday and offered me the job. (I accepted.) Oh, it's on the cardiac tele unit in a brand new heart hospital. This will of course be quite a change for me as I'm used to breaking hearts, not fixing them! Haha, oh I'm funny! (I know you all miss my humor.)

This weekend I started looking for places to live in downtown Columbia. I would really like to find a very small house in a neighborhood not inhabited by USC students where I can live alone and 9 times out of 10, will not get shot. This turns out to be harder than I thought. My mom and I spent a good 4 or 5 hours today scoping out rentals, and almost everything was pretty terrible. I did, however, find two duplexes that actually seem pretty nice, and I'm hoping to be able to schedule an appointment to see them both this week. So cross your fingers for me!

Anyway, that's pretty much all that's going on with me. Still don't have a date scheduled for NCLEX, which is making me kind of feel like I don't need to study yet. BUT, congratulations to Bretta Cook, RN! So happy for her, and may we all have commas and letters after our names very very soon!

Girls, girls, girls, it is that wonderful time again- time for the Bachelorette. I am so sad that not all of us will be around to drink (maybe a little too much) wine and comment on the show. Although I think this is a very good idea, I resent the comment about me posting pictures of my children. I will, however, get the babysitter that I am paying to watch your kids take lots of pictures of your little monsters.

p.s. I took the job at St. Francis and am starting on June 21. So hopefully I will have an apartment in greenville by the end of the summer so everybody come and stay with me!!!!!!!!

Hey Ladies!

Tori, Danielle, and I had talked about making a blog so that we could all keep up with each other as we all relocate. This way, we can stay on top of things like gross nursing stories, the status of Emily's relationship with Tripp Tripperson, and Lindsay can even upload pictures of all of her future children. It's pretty easy to use, and I really hope we can all update it often and stay in touch this way. I hope you are all having a great first few days as alumni, I miss you already!
